Curriculum

The curriculum at Secondary level is dynamic in nature and provides many varied learning experiences for the students. Whilst the development of Literacy and Numeracy continues to be a major focus, the curriculum of the Secondary section seeks to enable students to make connections between ideas and to relate local and global phenomena. The breadth of the curriculum also offers opportunities to specialise in such a way as to allow for student talents and interests.

The Religious Education Program is of major importance and is integrated throughout the curriculum by classroom instruction, liturgies, retreats, assemblies and other related activities.

The co-curricular and curricular offerings to students in Years 8-12 espouses the Marist value of a holistic approach to education.  Students are encouraged to develop an appreciation for: life-long learning, healthy lifestyles, the environment and service to the wider community.  As a part of this holistic approach students are offered the opportunity of taking part in various liturgies, camps, reflection days and retreats.

In addition to the integral Marist characteristics, the curriculum encourages students to appreciate:  the values of achieving potential, pursuit of knowledge, self acceptance, respect and concern for others, social and civic responsibility and a respect and concern for the natural and cultural environments.
